999s tyre pressures .

  1. Hi All ,
My recently purchased bike has Bridgestone BT016 tyres fitted , what pressures would any of you reccommend ?
When the tyres are up for replacement are there any alternatives to use ?
I dont anticipate any track days .

  2. I'd recommend 36psi front and rear for the road. I also find that the handling is quite sensitive to tyre pressures so I check them regularly.

I have Conti Road Attacks on mine but almost any modern sportsbike-oriented tyre will do a good job. You'll get a million different replies to that question: much of which is down to personal preference and familiarity.

Welcome aboard - how are you finding the 999? It tends to divide opinions and took me a while to get used to but I love my 05 999s...

    Cheers,
    dom

  3. I've got 2ct's fitted to mine and normally run 32 front 36 rear for road riding. It's well worth checking someone hasn't been buggering about with suspension settings too as the bike will be a pig to ride if they have...

  4. Thanks to you both .
Initial fell for the bike is good , only had 3 decect rides and then not far .
    Mirrors - junk though .
Peo!! , yesterday i had those thoughts about the suspension so have put all the damper settings front and rear back to std and also the rear spring preload had 22 mm so have took that back to 16 mm .im not to sure about the front pre load though !
Thats why i posted about tyre pressures so i start off somewhere close and then play around.
As for the 999 always loved the styling and the best way to describe them is affordable , but so far (mirror apart ) overjoyed .

  5. I Run 36 front and back rossos and now pilot pures.

Try the after market mirrors! I've got Ducati performance ones and at least you dont have to ride round like a chicken flapping its wings !! Getting the suspension right is hard work if you dont really know what your doing. Once you get it all singing you will fall in love, however the relationship demands a great deal:upyeah:enjoy its a fantastic bike that people are missing out on!!!! sshhhh

  6. Best way to use the mirrors is to stick your elbows out 'like a chicken' and look through the triangular gap between your arms and body. I find that works really well once you get used to doing it.

  7. Firstly - i dont do the funky chicken .
Secondly - went for shortish ride today having started with 34 psi front and 36 rear seemed ok Time will tell but it was cold so maybe a longer ride to get everything warm or a warm day - now theres wishful thinking. Std suspension settings (ohlins front and back ) again seemed good perhaps a bit more compression damping on the front .
Fork spring preload !the nuts are flush with the forks top surface , does this mean max preload ?

  8. Hi you got a hyperlink to mirrors you used? Are indicators part of the design? Toying with just indicator only... Cheers anyway

  9. No , It was an Oberon bar end mirror only on R H S but it made all the difference. Cheaper options are available on ebay.
Would be interested if you find combined units .

  10. There out there at £94 with £30 postage.. Fuck that, they are available from Netherlands with sensible or free postage, but to slow the blink speed a new resistor must be wired in.... If you Google it examples are shown .. Just wonder what the mot situation is without front indicators? I removed them all from my 78 bevel 900ss, hand signals suffice but with the rears still on working? I think there might be a conflict with a 'pass' .. Cheers anyway
