On my Multi V4S, having fitted the handlebars from the Pike Peak, the Gran Turismo 2 windscreen and baffle plates (sold as an accessory, which I believe are from the Rally) and touring handguards I have discovered a problem - on full lock the touring handguards not only touch the screen deflectors (baffle plates) but latch over the upstand element of the deflectors. I really like the PP bars, as I found the original V4 bars just a bit too wide and with just a bit too much of a pull back at the ends. The PP bars felt much more like the bars on the Multi 1200 which I became accustomed too over the years. I also really like the Rally screen even though it's only a bit taller, about 25mm, and maybe only 15mm wider on each side. The extra height works well in the fully up position and the edge of the screen isn't a distraction in my eye line. While in the fully down position it doesn't stop the air flow to the head and shoulders thereby allowing the vents in the helmet and jacket to work reasonably well. The main benefit of the touring handguards is the aluminium elements from the bar end around the guard. Hopefully this will provide more resilience in the event of a topple over or minor off. The good news is that having refitted the original screen deflectors there is no problem, the end of the accessory handguards just clear the screen deflectors - it's almost like they were designed to work together Further test rides will be required to see what difference reverting to the standard screen deflectors has if any. I won't be fitting the Rally screen side deflectors as I'm sure it would be an MOT failure and for good reason.
Yes, see a separate thread on this subject: PP Bars On A V4s? See the notes from @Paul Johnson at the end of the thread which I'll repeat here: Just a heads up for anyone swapping out their bars. The machine screws that hold the throttle twist grip together have security torx heads. The two screw holes in my new PP bars for the LHS heated grip were drilled but not tapped. Luckily I have a metric tap set at home. The Allen key tip in a previous post, for removing the switch gear, worked perfectly. The bars are appreciably narrower and certainly sit a chunk lower and further towards the rider. I’ll report back on how I get on with them after a few commutes next week.
I’ve fitted PP bars and also have the tinted deflectors and slightly taller V4S tinted screen. The standard handgaurds just touch. I did wonder if the Rally screen and deflectors would fit and I’ve been waiting for tinted ones. May give this a miss now.
