Just like it states im going to be getting a 848 in September-November time frame and wanna get some questions outa the way [emoji4] I have been looking at 2011-2013 years, is there any things wrong with these years or are they pretty solid?... And if there's any other things to know I'm all ears, thank you all [emoji4]
Nothing wrong with those. If budget will allow, try to get a corse se. These came with DTC, quick shifter and an ohlins rear shock. But even a standard 848 is still good. Just get the suspension sorted. Ian
Don't be scared of higher mileage if it's always been well looked after and IMHO avoid a Ducati quick shifter. In fact, probably any quick shifter on an 848!! Front is soft, rear is hard, so be prepared to either mess with suspension or pay someone else too. Ohlins makes huge difference to rear.
I got one, know nothing about her, but I love her. An awful lot of plus points. She is totally standard, so mirrors not much use, rear hard even if you're fat, things mist up, doesn't like slow riding, front cog change apparently helps, slippy pegs, clutch can feel heavy if in traffic. Other than that, perfect. These are minor issues, biggest cost, probably a new shock. Oh and termi, I don't have them either. Oh and different damper and carbon bits, don't have those either.

I've had my 2012 evo a year now. The only really annoying thing for me was the slippery foot pegs. £60 on some rizoma ones fixed that. Other things that are just a personal preference were the screen is low unless your short, seat is a bit naff, mirrors as mentioned above but not a huge issue. Suspension setup made a massive difference! I don't have an ohlins shock and weigh under 12 stone, little bit harsh on the back if your pushing along on some bumpy roads but mostly fine for me. Enjoy it they are a brilliant bike!
I had the 848 Evo new in 2011 traded in Nov 2013 for 899 regretted that a bit, dont get me wrong the 899 is lovely to ride but I felt it was missing something, now have an 848 SE corse with quick shifter, had a small issue with shifter as every now and then it would find false neutrals between any gear, however its just been back to the dealer who adjusted the rod between gear lever and spline just done 50 miles on it today no false neutrals. This is my 3rd 848 SBK I love em, in my garage I also have the 848 Streetfighter and the 1199s so I can easily ride back to back and compare and have done so last 3 weekends on the trot, I love the savageness of the 1199, but actually prefer riding the 848 Evo. Best mods larger back sprocket say two teeth, Termi full system but slip on end cans will do, both come with an alternative ECU but seriously take it to a Dyno and get it custom mapped for spot on fuelling, suspension is a bit stiff but for £100 your local Ducati dealer will set up your Static and rider sag and also Rebound and compression settings, makes it a much better ride (i'm 11.5st) they come out the factory stock setup for blokes of 15st I reckon. Mirrors are pants but do the chicken wing thing and you can see a gap between your torso and arms and therefore make the mirrors useable, pegs are slippy but £40 will get you a set of Oberon pegs with adapters so straight swap for std pegs, I had a set on my 899 and now have a set on my 848 SF but for the Evo I have ordered the Rizoma ones just for a change Get one they are excellent bikes my preference is the EVO SE because of QS and TC but the older Evo in matte black is ace too.
PS I have had 3 848's sbk the original when it was first released 2008 the Evo in 2011 and a month ago I picked up the SE Corse which is on a 63 plate.

Had my 848 since Feb, after 2 Suzukis it was a huge change but I love mine, I found a 2010 that had virtually been stored for 4.5years! 400 miles on and it gets better every ride. I've fitted mirror extenders and Termis with ecu and race filter, started buying bits of carbon. It's not much fun at low speeds tbh but I don't ride in traffic much, bit of clutch slipping needed. I've also lowered mine a bit at 5ft 6 it was a tad tall. Pound per pound I don't think much else comes close overall, it's more aggressive than the Japs but somehow smoother round bends and roundabouts, I find it comfy, I seem to be sat in the frame of the bike and the tank takes away wrist pressure. I got a few false neutrals at first but not anymore. Termis are a must!
Sparky fit a bigger back sprocket couple of teeth standard is 39, it will smooth out the low speed and will negate the need to slip/feather the clutch.
Loved mine when I had it. That bike handled so well it transformed my riding. I now just let the brake off early and carry much more corner speed. It was my pinup bike for a while. Had a guy run me over on my ninja (wrote it off) so I shook his hand and told him he'd just paid for my new Ducati. Termis were awesome. I had a leaky rad issue and my petrol tank breather hose got blocked. This meant that when the bike was left with a full tank on a hot day, the full expanded with nowhere to go and stained my tank. That would go for any bike though. Just bad luck. The rad was a common issue when I had mine though.
Be careful with rad protectors as track-type heavy braking is suspected to cause the rad leak on some as there isnt much clearance with frint wheel if forks dropped
It was made for track it is so punchy and you can weave all over the place while in a bend without any worries. Once it's on a line you can almost let go of the bars and it just stays there. Taking the cheep plastic off and putting it back into its original Black and Grey for the summer.
