F**kin’!, tw**in’! Bastard thing!!!! Gggggrrrrrrrr! Yes, I’ve just undertaken a bit of maintenance on my beloved 2012 1200S Touring. This must rate as one of the simplest yet most frustrating jobs ever!! It’s taken me a good half hour to do it and thank gawd it now works! Anyone hazard a guess as to what it could be??
All wrong I’m afraid! Changing the number plate bulb was the culprit. Trying to hold a bulb as slippery as a grease covered mackerel whilst feeding it up into a tiny space where your fingers don’t fit to attach it to two spring loaded blades was frustrating to say the least. The bulb hit the garage floor at least a dozen times before I managed to get it in. I seriously thought about removing the rear light/ mudguard at one stage. I finally managed it by wrapping a tiny piece of gaffer tape around one end so the wife’s tweezers could grip it sufficiently to manoeuvre it into position. It will probably burst into flames but frankly I’m beyond caring!
I have just replaced mine and after failing several times I did take the back end off ! What a ....... nightmare of a job
