Used my ABBA stand for the first time the other day, cracking bit of kit, but I thought it would be easier to get the front wheel up than it is, so I guess thats why they developed the ABBA Stand Pro for lifting the front. Now I dont believe in paying out for stuff that I can make, so has any one got one of these that they would be willing to measure up for me?
I have a trolley jack which I considered using but I liked the idea of the lever action one swift move to lift or lower the front.
I liked mine at 1st but became a pain in the arse putting together and taking apart just use paddock stands now Richie
Just out of curiosity, what do you use as the jack point? Could be a good alternative to a front paddock stand
OK, well forget that project, I have just seen this on the ABBA Stand web site: "Will the front lift fit my bike...? The abba front lift is designed to lift on the bottom of the exhaust pipes of a four cylinder machine where at least two pipes run parallel to create a flat lifting point. (On faired bikes there needs to be a 10+cm gap between the fairing for the front lift to locate up inside). The front lift is not suitable for V-twin engine motorcycles because of only one single front down pipe, or motorcycles with an unusual exhaust layout (i.e two pipes not running parallel)" So I will have to figure something out for this, any ideas?
I used one of these recently to change the fork seals on my bandit before I sold it and I know it can be used on Dukes as my Nephew used it on his 900ss before I got my 900ss (It's his stand I borrowed it ) Front Headstock Fork Lift Motorcycle Wheel Track Paddock Stand with 5 Lift Pins | eBay they're excellent little bits of kit for front end work.. Or you could invest on one of these. Not cheap but excellent value, simple to use and very sturdy. It's a lifetimes investment as it will work on any bike (bar a BMW with the funny front ends). FS11/D Motorcycle Front (headstock) Paddock Stand
