has anyone experienced the use of abba stand around the fitting kit points rubbing paint off the frame.
Yep, did the same to mine. If you want to avoid it you have to be millimetre perfect when fitting and removing it!
I've never had a problem with mine. Is it definitely the right fitting kit your using? But I do only use it for maintenance, for owt else I just stick it on the paddock stand. I did read about someone chipping paint off, but I think that's down to how carefully you put it on. The same thread went on to say about covering the end with electricians tape. So just to be extra safe I put heat shrink on the fitting kit to cover it and just left the little bits that get inserted exposed, just incase I had an accident while fitting it.
Let me know if you want some large heat shrink posting over..... I have loads of it....I'll never use it all. I acquired a roll of it.....it's blue....but better than damage.
Thinking of getting the fitting kit for my newly acquired 749 - presume same problem would occur here as with the 999 or is there a difference in the frames that would negate this? D'you think a bit of cotton cleaning cloth over the ends that go into the frame would prevent the chipping / scratching? Cheers, Andrew.
Just for info / add to the experience "data bank" iro Abba stand - bought the adaptors for my 2006 749 and just wound some electrical tape around the outside of the sleeve. Only a couple of times round otherwise it is then too wide (tried 4 times round to be careful at first). Fitted nice and snug (no movement up / down) and then carefully slid 'em in. Did the job spot on and no damage to paint - deffo think that without tape, some paint could easily get scuffed away. Cheers, Andrew.
