Aberdeenshire Riding

Discussion in 'Newbies Hangout' started by Garioch Rider, Jun 17, 2020.

  1. Hi folks, I am a newbie on here and not long arrived back in Aberdeenshire from 15yrs in France. I have recently acquired a 959 Panigale and was hoping for some good information on routes of a day out riding.. I often take the back roads from Kemnay, through Tarland and over to Ballater before turning off onto the old military road back up through the Lecht and looping back round through Huntly on the return. This is a nice road and good for a couple of hours, does anyone have any suggestions??

  2. through to avimore, roy/spean bridge. head north take a right just before fort augustus head for inversneky then back

  4. Welcome to the Forum Garioch Rider:upyeah:

Check out Calimoto.com, it seems there's a fair few routes uploaded by users on there. I've just started using Calimoto and find it useful (and easy), it marks scenic routes (like Michelin) and twisty routes (like Tom Tom).

  5. Welcome Garioch dude,

South Deeside to Banchory and then North Deeside to Braemar is always a good blast, or head up to Banff from Turriff (watch out for speed vans) and lots of good options heading west to Elgin and Inverness.

Too many options to list :D

  6. Have a look here -

    the nc500 map

We base ourselves near Fort Augustus for a week or 2 in early July.
Sunday (Day1) usually over to Glenlivet or 1 of the Breweries via Aviemore/Lecht. Sometimes over to Bramar/ Perth/ Glenshee area

Mon/ Tues (Day2/3) Head unto Lairg and then over a single track North of 'The falls of shin'.

Wed/ Thurs (Days 4/5) A long trip to Inverary via the Green Welly / Glencoe then onto Oban and then back to FA, normally about 250-300

Last option is a run to Loch Carron from FA via the Kyle of Lochalsh.

Have fun, we do. You need to keep your eyes peeled for unmarked police though.
