Hi all, I'll start with a brief introduction, I live in Shropshire not far from the welsh boarders so lots of wonderful roads on my doorstep. I have a couple of bikes in my garage... moto guzzi 1200 sport (in the beautiful Rosso Corsa livery) which I use for sunny day pottering and polishing, and a suzuki vstrom 650 which I use as an all year round bike. I will shortly have a space in my garage for another bike. I have been agonising over the choice between a sports bike or a long distance tourer ... So have concluded a Multistrada is the obvious answer I am considering buying the pikes peak edition (for it looks more than anything else) and would appreciate some help with a couple of questions..... What sort of discount should I expect to negotiate (list is about £18k) What must have accessories should I include? Many Thanks Jeremy
Welcome, great bikes. In answer... None...maybe a service or discounted accessories Depends how much of a carbon fan you are...the rest is perfect!
Hi Jeremy Welcome to the forum & you've decided on a good choice of bike.where abouts in Shropshire are you? I'm in Shrewsbury & have a 2013 pikes peak aswell as a Panigale. As Bradders says I don't think you will get much of a discount off list price but I'm sure you'll get 1st service thrown into the deal. I think Ducati are giving away free panniers at the moment. Other accessories would be a top box which will take 2 full size helmets aswell as being a back rest if your thinking of going 2 up. I've also got heated grips which are great when your going up into the welsh hills early in the morning!
Thanks for the info guys. I put a deposit down on one yesterday. A long story, but I'm not picking it up until 1st August so I have plenty of time to consider options. Yes it can get a little cold in those welsh mountains first thing, so I will defianately add a pair of heated grips.
Heated grips, top box, electric fuel cap thingy, 10 per cent off accessories and over £300 discount at Aylesbury can't quite remember how much And you will love it I'm sure
Dome 5k on mine now since last august and loving it. Easy, fast, comfortable and (so far....) reliable. Only niggles are the finish generally.
I put heated grips, panniers, top box, electric fuel cap and led driving lights on my pikes peak, I come from a R1200GS and wouldn't go back. I didn't get any discount but did get something not he extras and a first service thrown in. Delivered 5th April, now at nearly 4,500 miles although I did take to to mugello for the GP
The Multi is the only bike I've bought with my heart not my head, and I was seduced it's just not right for me. great to ride all the bells and whistles, stunning to look at but I can't wait to see the back of it. I've not had any issues to speak of although it's currently awaiting a new Cat as the exhaust valve has jammed shut. Sadly I just can't gel with it, maybe I don't ride it right, I'm too short, too old, physically weak whatever, but be sure you really want one cos they're a bloody seductive bike.
This was the same for me, I was also seduced by the Multi, fortunately it worked out for us. I guess the message is be sure that it's right for you before you commit. (sounds like relationship advice doesn't it)
Multi was a head not heart decision for me. And other than getting on and off, its seems to be paying off
