Hi I'm a new multi rider so please excuse the daft question. Having never owned a bike with ABS, does it only work on the front wheel or should it work on both ( managed to lock up back wheel last night , bloody pheasant ). Thanks.
My advice to you is to do this: 1. read the entire manual 2. Go out to the bike, turn it on and fiddle with the settings. see the dash lights and learn what they mean. 3. Read the manual again You really need to do this on this bike and understand how it works and thinks to get the best out of it and you. To directly answer your question, this bike has ABS on both wheels and this works very well IMHO. If you hit the anchors hard, the bike will still dive and unload the rear wheel which can lock up momentarily but the ABS should kick in and release the rear brake only as needed to maintain some braking traction. This will, of course, be hard to do if the wheel is in the air. The only question is was the ABS on at the time. It will default to on but can be switched off. In this case a light on the dash will tell you. If it develops a fault like a bad sensor, it likewise should tell you. Finally, you can set up the ABS in the riding modes to be near to inactive if you choose. This is used if you ride on dirt roads as an example. Have you messed with the mode settings? If you are confused, I suggest resetting the modes to factory default (read how in the manual) and start from three.
Ducbird, It is all about core muscles. If the ABS kicks in and you don't know what is going on your rectal sphincter will suddenly become your only and core muscle.
Locking up a rear wheel should be a post in itself if you knew the history of these things. Don't complain; rejoice!
