Hi guys, Recently had a misfortune of having Accel Pos Error Code on my dash and engine stalled. Restarted the bike and code went off and bike went back to normal. Did some research and found out that it might be due to the accelerator position sensor malfunctioning (not TPS, 2 diff things) which is near the throttle body. Anyone out there had similar problem or has had the APS replaced. If I'm not mistaken you got to replace the whole TB ($$$$) as the APS sensor is not sold separately. Looking forward for you inputs. BTW riding a 2011 Multi S. Cheers
Had exactly the same issue with a 2012 Diavel, an Accelerator Position error message would flash up and the engine would default to tick over. Everything would reset when you switched off but as soon as you set off and got to about 15mph, the error would flash up and the bike would default to tick over again. The first generation Multistrada and Diavel share the early ‘semi fly-by-wire’ throttle body and the only way I know to confirm or eliminate the APS from the equation is get a dealer to plug the bike in to their diagnostics kit. The Diavel’s problem was a sticky throttle butterfly stepper motor so the ECU saw conflicting information from the TPS and APS and just shut everything down. I had the whole throttle body assembly replaced. I’ll dig the duff throttle body assembly out and see if there is a manufacturer’s part number because if it is the APS, it’s easily unplugged and removed, just not supplied as a part by Ducati. Somewhere along the line, it was suggested the APS might have come off a Mitsubishi. Andy
Its a Mitsubishi ecu, so follows that some of the sensors could be too... If its a sticky motor or butterfly a good clean might help to cure it.
