My 1198s is sold now and I am buying a used 2015 899 very shortly. The bike comes with no extra goodies not even a dust cover. What is a must to buy after I am a lucky owner of a Panigalina? Thx.
Why did you sell an 1198 for a 899? Unless you are unable to ride the 1198 seems daft to me!! Please enlighten me if I'm wrong.
Lower radiator guard, absolute must! It's a water radiator on the panigale and much bigger than on the 1198/848. Next on the list is grippy footpegs. I have some other bits on mine like the exhausts, also I have ventureshield but I'm not sure if it's essential really. Feedback regarding upgrading the clutch slave cylinder suggests it doesn't make such a big difference as it did on the 1198, it was essential on that bike
I would fit either a tank pad at least or a Ventureshield tank kit immediately. The paint on my 1199 scratches / swirls / dulls very easily. Just a few rides were enough to tarnish the paint on the tank quite noticeably.
A nice cheap and effective change is to get rid of the standard somewhat slippery pegs for Oberons. They're about £45, and take 10 mins to swap
Then get rid of the pillion seat for a cowl and remove the pillion pegs First job I did, and I'd only done about 15miles on the bike. The standard Pillion seat is designed for midgets of people with really padded arses as it's basically useless
Ducati can supply one that plugs straight in under the pillion seat However, the connector's a faff, so I hard wired an optimate lead in and use the standard optimate/accumate charger I think a few others have done the same It's a 15min job and a peice of cake
Optimate 4 for me. Hard wired to battery and cable tied to the loom next to the shift rod. Must haves in my opinion are taller screen (MRA tinted), footpegs, tail tidy with 7x5 plate. Also as mentioned.... Radiator guards. After that I recommend the performance seat, venturesheild and headlight bulb upgrade.
