Anyone fancy a trip down, but avoiding the A23 stand still? How about Box Hill to Bury Hill, then along the coast into Brighton, at least that avoids the M23/A23 and the town centre. Comments please.
Sounds great, but I am doing a bike safe course on the Saturday so will have to see if I can get another pass out from the wife.
may be up for this - Classic Car show at Tilford on same day unfortunately. Pretty sure Termi is going.
Not keen on big rideouts. About 6 of us were going to the Ace Day at Hastings about 10 years ago and merged into the group from the Ace enroute. A few miles down the road someone in front braked hard, a bike went into the back of him, next thing there's 3 or 4 bikes sliding past us, one clipping one of my mates girlfriends bike nearly knocking her off. You're riding in close proximity to riders who might have only passed their test last week or a Harley with half the brakes it needs.
I find the same thing when in my car on a busy road, who knows who is behind/in front of me. Maybe the Ace could organise the ride in Rider ability groups or bike performance? Life's a gamble I suppose.
what kind of time was you thinking of going form Boxhill? Ace café details below, like to get there before the main group BRIGHTON BURN UP 10.30am Start Time: 10:30 AM End Time: 10:30 AM Location: London iCalendar version of the event: iCal Meet Details: Run departs at 10.30am Bands SIXTEEN & THE SIDEWINDERS THE KINGCATS DJs Bill & Jimmy Guntrip Free on Brighton seafront Celebrating 150 years with Metzeler www.metzeler.co.uk
I'll be there, if you don't want to park on the seafront I've got a bike bay opposite my house with bollards to protect the bikes, normally only me in it. 7 min walk to the seafront & of course tea/coffee & kit storage all on offer.
I will almost definitely be there. As I know the area, I meander my way down to the sea front through the side streets, thus avoiding all the queuing on A23 e.t.c . I can highly recommend the stunt shows which are on 3 times throughout the day at the Marina end of the drive. Listen out for announcements for the timings of the shows or ask someone. Bit of a hike to get there, but plenty of bikes to check out whilst you are walking there which takes maybe 20 mins or so.
