Acf50 Any Good?

  1. E07C6D15-91A0-445A-A29A-0D9DFE30D30F.jpeg i bought a Kawasaki EX650R to use as a winter hack, it’s actually in much better condition than I thought it was so it would be a shame to totally ruin it on salty roads (I’m a bit sad like that, even though I bought it purposely just to keep my other bikes in good condition I now feel sorry for it!) so I will use it over winter but want to protect it a bit, I’ve heard that ACF50 is very good, so a few questions, what’s it like to apply/remove, is it greasy when applied, is it visible when applied, how well does it protect ?, thanks Mark.

  3. Yes.

    Don't touch FS365

  4. There are lots of threads on here for ACF50

It works well - best Applied every month or so in Winter if you are a daily rider - or leave it without rinse...

It is supposed to last a Winter...with 1 Applicationn... but my recommendation is more frequent.

Its best Applied by spray gun.... - Ensure to cover the tyres and brakes so they do not get ACF50 on them.

Basically clean and dry the bike - as best as is possible - then using a compressor and spray gun - you can light dust everything with the spray can.... 100 - 150 ml of the big bottle should be about correct.... per application.

Apply - leave it for an hour - then wipe off the excess with a microfiber cloth....

Remove masking from wheels and tyres.

Then start bike and leave it smoke off the exausts and engine..

  5. Good comparison here. Spoiler: XCP seems to come out on top.

I put ACF50 on and I only leave it in the garage all winter. Warm it up first seems to be the consensus so it goes on easier.

That bike looks too good for winter use, you should probably buy another one ;)

  6. XCP it is then!, yes I could end up with hundreds of bikes!

Thanks for all the replies above.

  7. I get these guys to do mine once a year - ACF50 doesn’t have a long shelf life and I really can’t be bothered to do it myself

  9. Nothing will protect a bike from winter salt if you ride winter salted roads. It gets everywhere. Corrosive as as as as VD, I think that's corrosive.
Anyways, the salt has grit and shit in it and its sore on vehicles.
I just wash it after I get home.

  10. Do you mean it actually doesn’t have a long shelf life or it doesn’t last long on the bike?

  11. Shelf life is 2 years so buying bulk isn’t much use unless you’ve named yourself after a car ;p.

  12. Or have multiple bikes.... I buy the USA Quart (1 Litre nearly) bottle... not the 4L or bigger sizes..

I did not know it had a shelf life.... mine for sure is more than 2 years old..

I actually am not a daily winter rider... so mine just gets the one treatment normally... but I do rinse after every ride too in the winter... with pressure washer.

In the summer... its cleaned with cloths, wet wipes and silicone spray after most rides then a wash and Sdoc100 if it gets dirty or maybe after every 10th ride.... to get to the bits I can not reach with cloth.

  15. ACF 50 is the best but find it the worst of the lot to apply, Any one comes up with a decent tool for applying it please share (other than warm/ brush on etc, Something that would apply in some kind of mist would be ideal

  16. CCP for me. Easy to use and good price. Coats everything really well.
