while out today traveling at about 35mph (just after a very busy roundabout in town) the engine cut out without warning! turned out to be the side stand switch, after 10 mins of poking, shaking n swearing I pop in to the shop id stopped out side of and ask for a paper clip to by-pass the switch. the switch is now sorted but ive added a paper clip and tape to the tool kit had to laugh tho cos i'd just been tell the chap in my local bike shop (Honda dealer) that i'd had no trouble with the bike.
I bypassed the sidestand switch on my monster, as described. To cut a long story short, I eventually ended up thumbing the start button while the bike was in gear and I was standing next to it. I now have an unsightly dent in my tank where the bike lurched off the stand and fell into a lampost. There is however, a very cheap and simple mod which links the stand switch to the neutral switch, thus avoiding the above problem. All that's required is a small, 50p diode connected between the neutral switch and the signal terminal of the sidestand relay. The bike will now start when on the sidestand, but only if its in neutral. This has worked fine on my bike, though I believe that some other ducatis may have different sidestand systems, so it might not be suitable for all models.
it's gone again! I've bought a second hand one off ebay, don't know how they put them together but I couldn't get it apart to look inside, don't ya just hate it when that happens!
I had the same problem the main dealer says if was not the side stand switch but probably the ecu playing up it did it twice. And they reset it and it was fine for a bit then it went again and I traded it in then
I fitted the new one yesterday its off a 2013 bike, I suppose only time will tell! what bike did you trade it in for?
The new 2013 one hopefully if will be better love the bike just don't need to worry about it stopping when it wants
