Im going to look at buying my first ducati tomorow its a 749 just done over 10k its on its second owner guy said hes just had service and belts dont what should i be lookinh out for when looking at it ??? Any advice would be great. Any tips Cheers jason
It probably is an 05 but I've just had my 04 refurbished and it now has a red frame and black seat frame. There are other ways of telling them apart but, if you've done any research, you will know this. All that matters about the YM is that you are happy with the bike and how much you are going to pay for it, you sure as hell aint going to notice any difference on the road! Just take a really good look at the bike, try and put lust to one side, has it been loved? I mean really loved, why is this prat prepared to say goodbye to the best bike he/she is ever going to own? It MUST have a full service history. If it doesn't then walk. You say that this will be your first Ducati, you do know that they make some strange noises? The dry clutch sounds like a box of spanners in a centrifuge. If you are only used to Jap' bikes then, and I guess it's probably a bit late to suggest this, it would be far better to take along somebody who knows a bit about Dukes. I can't think of anything else to be honest. A properly looked after 749 is an absolute pearl, I think that you will be able to judge whether or not this one has been cherished...do ask why the idiot is even contemplating getting rid of it! If that's the one your looking at jason29 then it is an 05 and looks sweet. On my 999 the cooling fans cut in at about 105 or so..I don't actually know the exact temp', I just notice that my shins are starting to glow!
