1299 Advice Please On Buying

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by lukadabuca, Mar 4, 2017.

  1. Hey all,

I just wanted to ask how you all purchase your bikes?

Are you going direct to Ducati or is there a way to get a bit of discount anywhere else?

I would be looking for a nice finance option.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Ducati? Discount? In the same sentence? :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

If you want discounts buy Chinese :upyeah:

  3. You'll probably struggle to get much of a discount on a 1299, they're going to be harder to get hold of this year as well which won't help...

Phone around some dealers if you're serious and gets some figures.

I got £1500 off of mine, but I know the general manager

  4. Ducati usually have some sort of finance option, the most recent being Tri Options. However, if you are expecting significant discounts, you will need to look elsewhere at other makes. The demand for Ducati outstrips the supply. If you are not looking for new, finance offers are limited however because there is profit from selling finance packages, it gives more haggling room. As new registrations kick in and the weather (hopefully) gets better, dealers will have used stock that they need to shift and it depends on how much they need to shift the stock how much you can squeeze them. It's all a game, there is only so much profit in each bike. The dealer wants to maximise his profit whilst you want to have at cost. Hone your haggling skills and always be prepared to walk away. KTM and Aprillia seem to be offering some good deals at the moment. Andy

  5. I bought an ex demo from DMC stoke that about 560 miles on it and saved about 4k over the list price of a new bike, I paid in cash but as has already been said dealer margins are pretty small.

  6. Ok thanks guys.

Thought I'd just ask before doing anything

  8. If you want one, i wouldn't hang about. Rumours are that no more are being built.

  9. Pretty sure that's a definite because the eu emissions

  10. Mentioned in Performance Bikes mag this month too. Rumoured that the V4 will be announced in November.

  11. Google is a wonderful thing, by reading this the 1299 euro 3 will still be available for a while... if they are still being produced...
"There's less mourning in the Ducati camp, where the only casualties are the Urban Enduro and Flat Track Pro versions of the Scrambler sub-family. Both are dropped for 2017 although to be fair, the new-for-2017 Scrambler Café Racer and Desert Sled models, while not direct replacements, will more than fill the boots of the outgoing models.

The only models to be affected by Euro4 are the 1299 Panigale and Panigale R. Of course Ducati isn’t discontinuing its flagship superbike, but it’s worth noting that it is alone in the firm’s 2017 range in not conforming to Euro4 emissions rules.

As with many other bikes from rival manufacturers, it’s got a stay of execution thanks to ‘derogation’ rules. Because Ducati has been so thorough in updating the rest of its range to Euro4, it’s got a fairly large leftover quota for Euro3 derogation (up to 10% of the total number of Euro3 bikes sold over the last two years). So it shouldn’t be hamstrung when it comes to the number of 1299 Panigales and Panigale Rs it can sell in 2017.

However, it does beg the question whether the 1299 will be updated for 2018 with big exhausts – like the Euro4-legal 959 Panigale.

  12. Interestingly the Superleggera is Euro 4 compliant.

  13. That is interesting as it comes with the underslung exhausts as standard, funny thing is with the akra pipes fitted you loose the side stand,no good for a Costa run having to lean your 72k bike up a wall :D

  14. Do people actually do Costa runs?

    Is this a thing?

  15. You have a Ducati and you dont do Costa (other brands are available)i thought all bike owners ride a mile to costa park up and ride a mile home :Bag:
