Kevlar jeans any advice on what make is best, tried some landsrtands seemed ok but there are loads out there
Personally I've always used Hood jeans, had them for years. I like that they have a full kevlar lining, not just on impact areas, and they last very well indeed.
Fine if Hood jeans fit you and you're not between sizes like me! Hood do seem to have quite a fanbase on the other Ducati forum. I have some Draggins - not cheap but at least they fit me, though mine don't have the full lining. Not yet crash tested. I think someone in UKMOC crashed in Red Routes which survived pretty well, but I've not heard universally good reviews for them.
I have only used Hood jeans too, but the new ones I have bought have different knee protection pads in them and they keep coming loose and moving around
The halvarrsons lindstrands jeans are as good as draggin' jeans, a lot of Police forces use Halvarssons it's top quality kit. As good as Rukka
What are you expecting them to do? I have done a lot of work with Kevlar and Cordura. Kevlar offers nothing but tensile strength, holding together the yarns around them. The Kevlar/Cordura mixes (and you need to look at what % of Kevlar is in there and whether or not it is DuPont Cordura or a Chinese copy) are not as good as a 1.2mm cow hide for abrasion resistance, but for normal road use are usually just about sufficient . Kevlar Jeans are Kevlar and Cotton. The Cotton does sweet FA when it comes to abrasion resistance whether the Kevlar holds it together or not. If you come off at 30 mph it might help a bit, but not much. Come off at more than that and it's not going to be much better for road rash than wearing pyjamas.
How about a thread title that reads "Advice on kevlar jeans, please"? Then I wouldn't waste any time opening it, knowing that I have nothing of value to add to the debate. You shouldn't take that personally BTW. You're no more guilty of vague thread titles than most people. I've totally lost count of the newbie "Hello" threads. Don't Ducati riders have any imagination?
Was looking at the revit jeans last weekend and figured that sort of thing is good for a town commute but not for a blat. Did like the boots they do though, look like normal casual boots but with toe, heel and ankle protection built in.
