  1. i bought a 2013 s touring 18 months ago and in that time the bike has failed to start twice and had to have a new battery at my cost fitted and recovered to dealer. The bike has also suffered bad corrosion of chain, wheel nuts sprocket bolts and various other small bolts. I raised it with the dealer I bought it from and was told ducati wouldn't repalce as was down to owner care which I don't are with. A month ago the bike developed a fueling fault where it would hesitate and was virtually unriedeable and had to be recovered to the dealer. The cause was corroded coils so they were repalced and the exhaust valve was sticking and had corrosion and dealer left it open. I asked for a new exhaust as bypassing it to resolve corrosion wasn't acceptable to my mind when it's under warranty. Just spoke to dealer today and the exhaust studs have snapped in the head due to corrosion of the bolts and requires the head to be sent off before new exhaust can be fitted. At dealers cost who have been very good about it and I don't blame them. The bike was bought at a different dealer and they have just picked up warranty work as nearer.

Anyway the bike is garaged and has only just done 2000 miles. All this corrosion to my mind is wholly unacceptable and I shouldn't be having these problems. Is it worth emailing someone in authority/ high level at ducati as I'm really not happy and dissalusioned with the brand and feel like I just want rid of the bike and wouldn't touch Ducati again.

  2. Hi mate have a look at this thread you are not the only one with corrosion problems, It would appear some dealers are willing to deal with it others not.
But yeah it is a right piss off.
The Ducati's are lovely bikes loads of fun to ride and it is a shame that there is this problem to mar what otherwise is a great bike.

  3. I would not be happy.:(

  4. A bike kept clean and dry will not corrode.

With 2000 mls on the clock I would expect better.

However there is obviously a problem here, Ducatis are sold into the UK where it rains and we cover our roads with salt for 6 months of the year; they should be fit for purpose.

Manufacturers such as Ducati can and should do better.

  5. That's what all my teachers said about me :)

  6. How about go to the dealers and take plenty of photos of all the corrosion and send them to Ducati UK/Italy and mention about the coils and exhaust.

  7. Think it's mega poor. I'm not necessarily saying Ducati are worse than other manufacturers but you shouldn't have to literally clean it every time it leaves the garage when it's not sunny.

My car which I've had for three years and lives outside and has been cleaned 3 times maybe in the time I've used it and the wheels bolts and other bolts I can see are fine so why aren't bikes with more exposed material.

I intend to contact Ducati. Does anyone have any experience of emailing complaints to anyone specific and who should I email?

  8. I just used the general contact us on the Ducati website that was back in 2006 I ended up getting a replacement bike :)

  9. Was that uk or Ducati hq/Italy. I'm so dissapointed in the bike as it was my dream bike that I was assured would stand upto winter use but it clearly isn't.

  10. Ducati UK, I ended up dealing with the head honcho for south East of England

  11. Would love to know if the italian , Spanish forums are flagging this up as a problem ?
