So, shoulder will stay busted for another month but as I seem to have some unwanted spare time, it’s got me thinking. I can buy a full fairing kit (yeah alright from China) on eBay for about £300. I quite fancy a change to something subtle like white number boards, maybe black lower fairings & I always hated my tinted screen, so anyone had any experience of these kits? Are they worth it, just for a temporary change of look? Is the quality good enough? Will it arrive on one piece (well you know what I mean)?
They look like track bike fairings so I guess it depends what you expect? The main problem is the quality control; sometimes they go straight on and look fine but often they need some work to make them fit which can make them look a bit of a mess if for instance you have to drill holes in different places to where they should be. The other thing is the cost to get them painted; £350 minimum for a poor quality basic one colour job. The ones that come with graphics are usually quite reasonable for a track bike though.
I got a set of Chinese fairings for the rvf and have to say they are excellent I bought them to do a trackday but not doing one anymore
I had some cheap Chinese fairings on my old TL1000R while I had the originals painted. Finish wise they were quite good and glossy, holes matched up but the belly pan part melted due to the heat off the exhaust
I'm looking at some also just for trackdays. They come painted for £300 with heatshields etc. The other option is to slowly build up other scuffed or old panels off ebay.
Just had a look actually and think I would just get the standard fairing kit as it's £200 for a Chinese set unpainted, and then put some stickers or something on it.
