1260 Aftermarket Brake Discs

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Multirider75, Nov 13, 2020.

  1. I've had some Galfer front discs on order for over a month, and just been told that they won't be in until late December/ early January at the earliest. Another dealer in Germany has said they no longer make them for our bikes.

What other aftermarket wavy discs are available for the 1260?

  2. Not a fan of wavey tbh, but a good quality disc is the Brembo Serie Oro. You could go 330mm with spacers and improve the brakes further. Does make caliper fitting a bit tighter though

  3. They don’t have to be wavy, I guess, but I want something that won’t rust or squeak like the standard discs. They’re being replaced under warranty, so I don’t mind adding money to get something decent.

  4. why the wavy rotors?

if you want the absolute best rotors for street use, look no further than these:

  5. I’ve got Serie Oros on mine.

Better performance and they don’t rust, throw in some red Brembo pads for the full experience.

  6. Yep, I’m going with those all round. Have you had any issues with squeaking, as the stock discs squeak? I’ve already ordered a full set of red brembo pads, they’ve been ready to fit for weeks!

  7. Define “squeak”. 2 very common issues; the caliper pistons get caked as they extend as the pad wears and the crud stops the pistons from releasing fully when you release the brake lever and the Multistrada discs are “semi-floating” and the bobbins routinely seize and need to be freed up. Both issues cause the pad and disc to rub. Abdy

  8. I got mine from these people in the pic, you can use the code as well and anyone else also. 5% should at least cover the postage. Just make sure you get the 330mm discs. 9314D131-5285-4E74-B486-3987AA11C2DD.jpeg

  9. They tend to squeak at low speeds, when coming to a stop. Quite embarrassing.

  10. I’ll take a look, but suspect they’ll still be massively expensive!

  11. I promise you that squeaking is great when filtering in traffic. Most car drivers don’t see you, but they do hear that noise, lifesaver and if it is brake dust oriented then it’s harmless.

  12. I would take everything apart and have a good clean up. On my Monster, the left disc was no longer moving on the bobbins. I soaked each side (with the wheel removed) in WD40 and made sure that the disc would properly float on the bobbins. Sorted everything out. I then degreased to get rid of the WD40 and put wheel back on. I cleaned out the calipers and when I put it all back together, the brakes were perfect. Boring hard work but worth it. I think that I replaced the piston seal and dust covers in the calipers.

  13. I have just llast night installed brand new 330mm serie oro discs from carpimoto. Have yet to mount the wheel but looking forward to not pulsing to a stop every single time.

  14. If you fit these disks do you need to adjust the caliper as well, plus does it make it harder to get the caliper on and off?

    Thanks.

  15. Bolt straight on, no difference.

  16. No squeaking. They do have a better bite though, especially with the red pads.

  17. I only get squeak from rear brake when braking, which cause is that?

  18. Fantastic. I’m looking forward to getting the red pads on, as the rust coloured pads on the rear have been driving my OCD crazy!

  19. Make sure you copper slip the contact points of the pads in the callipers (not the pads obviously!) Back of the pads and the points where they slide inside the callipers. That will fix the squeak (for a while)
