Currently in the market for a hypermotard and an area I would want to change or to already have changed is the exhaust. The two most favourable for me are the twin arrow shorts and twin termignoni. If You you add a slip-on and run without DB killers do you require a remap? By require I mean is the engine eventually run so lean it's going to go bang or is it safe but possibly not smooth. Manifold and cat removal and going to need a remap - no question about it.
Hi, I ran my 796 from new for 2yrs with just a Zard Penta end can fitted and it made no difference whatsoever to the way the bike rode, it just sounded & looked a lot nicer. I then removed the Cat (a Leo Vince kit) and fitted a K & N air filter and ran it like that (with the Lambda sensors still fitted/connected) for a few months. It sounded even better but needed to refit the killers into the Zard so not to pi55 the neighbours off too much, it ran “ok”. I then had a re-map done (Lambda's removed too) by Mark at BSD in Peterborough (BSD Performance – The home of motorcycle performance tuning - Ducati | BSD Performance ) which totally transformed the bike and is by far the best £350 I’ve spent on any mod in 40yrs of riding.
Thanks - that's goo to know I if I wan to put a slip on there that is £700 as opposed to over £1000 for basically some style and noise
If you know a good welder chopping it is an option I'm more than happy with mine. Probably be expensive if you had to pay a company full price to do it though. Chopped exhaust | Ducati Forum
This is a great way to go and fortunately I have a friend who is a welder and they say they are good... Exhausts off eBay are very cheap so for small amount for that and a few drinks for a friend I could be very happy for relatiy very little. However the arrows do look pretty...
I really like them and the sound is just right for me. only issue my mate had really was matching the stainless rod for tig. he didn't use a stainless primer though and now the heat resistant paint has started to flake a little so I'm hoping to get them coated over the winter.
Yeah I hope so. Don't know if I need ceramic coating or not (don't know much about it)? The end cans don't actually get that hot I can put my hands on them straight after a ride.
