I bought an aftermarket SL seat for my 900ss project bike & the good news is it's significantly lighter that the OE seat on my SL. The less good news is that there are no metal & rubber mounting plates bonded into the glass fibre structure. So, for those in the know, do I need to buy the mounting kit from Ducati & glass it into the seat, or is there a trick that I have missed? Thanks
If memory serves, you need to buy or make the plates that lift the seat to the correct height. Buy the rubber pads they rest on. Bolt these through the fibreglass to the seat pad fixings. Then position and fix using the four bolts with large alloy washers at front and mid left and right.
I got a Ricambi Weiss Single seat years ago. I had to buy all the brackets from ducati and mount them

Individual choice of course, but I would definitely not spend the additional effort to source, position and glass in rear mounts. I think it was belt and braces on the originals because they were far heavier than RW race weight stuff (and “just in case” somebody decided to sit an occasional pillion on the seat hump) but otherwise there is no load here, the RW stuff is wafer thin light but has decent returns on the moulding so it does not shake at all.
If you read the above link, I didn't mount the rear, I made an alloy bracket to support it. There's a pic. As said. There no real load on the back. I do have the brackets, and will one day sort though
I do have somewhere .dxf file for you to lazer and bend seat brackets if its worth your while or just like doing stuff like that. Just let me know. https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/single-seat-grp-or-glass-fibre.29228/page-2#:~:text=Single Seat : Grp Or Glass Fibre? Cheers Gaz
