ello all, does any one have experience of the Viper slip on exhausts at all? I'm possibly looking at buying one for my 600SS but am concerned that i may have start re-jetting.
is it worth having a go at?
currently i have standard Ducati single tail pipe.
    any advice appreciated.

  2. to get max benefit out of any free flowing exhaust you need to rejet

without rejecting you will run lean, worse case scenario is a holed piston, best case scenario is you will not gain any power

  3. In my experience, viper are great cans and rarely need much in the way of carb fiddling! I just fitted a Micron to my Duke and what a whore that was to set right!

  4. At least a Stage 1 Dynojet kit and rubber trumpets off the airbox.......

  5. Thanks for the information.
trawling the internet I came across a company based in the UK named 'Quill' who's exhaust is apparently designed so that the jetting need not be altered from standard, seems a bit too straight forward??
I've dropped them an email for more information.
I'd like to avoid re-jetting if possible, I did quite a lot of tuning SU carbs in my younger days (on cars), re-profiling needles by hand, alternative spring strengths etc, plug chops every 1/2 hour :Wtf:
Only as a last resort, or maybe even stay as standard??
    Thanks again,
    Gino.

  6. No such thing as no need (I feel) there's always fettling to be done for more power / responsiveness ;) Mines on a Micron can, open airbox with K&N and Dynojetted carbs.

  7. Sorry for my ignorance, do the dynojet kits have a series of different jets or is it a case of simply changing what's in the bike to what's in the kit & bob's your uncle?

  8. Dynojet jets are measured differently to the OEM Mikunis........In the kit, you would get two sizes of main jet, two needles and two springs.....plus some other bits......

Here are the Stage 1 & Stage 2 instructions if posting them here works....

It's a case of swapping them over.............you get two sizes of main jet just in case you need to alter the way it runs on one pair.....

However, don't go buying a kit until you have looked to see if one isn't already fitted.........you never know......

  9. Ahh, I see.. It makes more sense to me now!
    Thanks for that.

  10. But...............wait until you want to fit the main jets...........sure, they are a straight swap over.......but getting to them..........
