Hi, I was curious if anyone has fitted aftermarket wheels on their Multistrada 1260s and your overall impressions/review of how it has affected the motorcycle. I was debating some BSTs for the 1260s. Thank you. Cheers. John
I fitted a pair of Marchesinis from a 1098R to my 1200 and the difference was night and day awesome but I wouldn’t tour loaded or go off road with them as they are far too light to withstand anything like a pot hole or curb. Andy
I have BST's on my Pikes Peak and agree with Andy its like night and day but as stated you do have some limitations despite what the manufacturer says and its mostly common sense.
Can’t remember if the 1098 had ABS. If it didn’t, you will need to transfer the ABS/traction ring across. No biggy though. Andy
I swapped my BSTs from my 1200PP To my 1260PP. Given that the 1260 has forged wheels, the difference is less but still noticeable.
First off, thank you all for your responses they were very helpful. I seldom ride two up (once or twice a year for less than 500 miles) and when I ride solo for extended trips/days I like to ride very light and dirt roads only happen when I am lost . I recently sold my 2015 SDR and I would like to make the 1260s model a bit more raw and lively. I recently replaced the stock battery with a lithium and removed the center stand and dropped about 14 pounds and I will replace the stock system with a full race Termi exhaust and hope to lose another 10-15 pounds. It sounds like the cast alloy wheels may be lighter than I thought so thanks for the Intel. The BSTs are a sizable investment and a year's worth of track days so I may have to think it over a bit more but man it sounds like a nice mod. Did anyone find that the lighter wheels and steering led to less stability? For comparison I had an SMT for many years and currently have a 701 so late and hard turn ins are cool in my book. Thank you all again. Cheers. John
