Hello All, Just wanted to share my experience after finally buying an AGV Pista GP! I was looking for some time now to replace my AGV GP Tech helmet that I had for 5 years and for the the last 6 months I was looking into the available options in the market. Must admit that I do like and prefer AGV helmets but the Pista GP would stretch my budget too much so I was considering more as options the AGV Corsa, Arai RX-7 GP and Schuberth SR1. I did try them all and I really felt that the new design of the AGV was very impressive and the fit was the best among the three options. Also the fact that AGV is now offering 4 different shell sizes and an M/L size is available, made me choose the AGV. So, I decided to try and find a good deal on the Corsa but couple of weeks ago it was brought to my attention that I could buy the Pista GP for a price just below £600 from a UK official dealer... which, at least for me, was a bargain for a handmade full carbon helmet so I bought one without second thoughts. I must admit it is the best helmet I ever bought! First of all, when you wear the helmet it is not an exaggeration to say that you do not feel that you wear something on your head. It is so light and comfortable beyond imagination. Furthermore, AGV now offers the choice to remove padding from the cheeks and the back of the head which is excellent because you can adjust it and for me without the extra padding is better and fits my head perfectly. Another point which is impressive is the field of vision! It is so wide that yet again you almost do not need to move your head to see traffic lights, watch out for a car next to you etc. From an aerodynamic perspective it is again just excellent and I have a Hypermotard which means that wind especially in high speeds was an issue before. From a noise level perspective I felt it was again pretty good but, at least as I have read, not excellent as it is a racing helmet and noise reduction is not one of the helmet's strong points. Overall I believe it worths the money and probably it even worths the starting price of £799. I know that I am comparing it to a 5 year old helmet but for me the difference was just huge! Would highly recommend one and I think that the deal is still out there so if you are looking for one maybe it the time to buy! Cheers, Alex
I have one too and also am very happy with it. I do take exception to the AGV marketing hype about the vision, however, as it is no better than my Shoei X-Spirit II. Having said that it is very comfortable (for my head shape and was set up for me at the stealership by someone who works on the WSB helmets for AGV (apparently)). It is no noisier than my Shoei but definitely cooler and is now my preferred road hat. I used the Shoei on a recent track day so cannot comment on the AGV track performance. The visor operation in terms of removal etc is superb, although it does push the visor costs up as the mechanism is now on the visor, not the hat.
