My Hypermotard 796 has a full GPR system fitted and whilst it works and sounds very well, I know the bike is running lean. What I want to find out is to what extent it's running lean so i'm having an exhaust gas analysis done and I'll decide on what to do based on the results. I'm just wondering if anyone would know where the threshold lies in terms of what is a safe level of lean running and what's not.
You've got a choice of a/f ratio or Lambda. I target .87 -.88 lambda for best performance which is 12.7 - 12.9 AFR.
The engine tuner of my choice initially aims for an A/F ration of 13:1 which works to excellent effect on my 853cc track bike. Andy
