1200 DVT Air Temperature Sensor Gone Adrift...

  1. Hey all
Bought my new-to-me 2017 1200DVT S at the end of last year. I love it! I was out on a run this weekend and noticed that the air temperature sensor seems to have gone adrift, reading about 4 - 5 degrees lower than actual. OK I live in the UK Peak District and it was raining, but there's no way it was 4C! Cold enough to bring on the ice warning...
I cross checked with a mate on his Panigale and his reading was about where it should have been - say 19C on Sunday whereas mine was saying 14. (the other mate was on a brand new Africa twin which thought it was 25C!!).
Do these go adrift, and if so is there a fix, like a recalibration? Or just replacement? I wouldn't have thought it was a connection issue as the outcome would be no reading at all, or at least an intermittent reading, rather than a low reading.
I hadn't noticed anything untoward prior to this. The only thing that changed recently was a ride where I got caught in the rain for about 20 minutes a couple of weeks ago and we had a bit of a soaking together.
Also, does that air temperature play any meaningful part on the fuel injection system? I read elsewhere that the fuel mixture gets adjusted at lower temperatures so a faulty reading could cause issues...
    Thanks all
    James

  2. It would be worth checking it to make sure it is clean! Anyway, easy to get to and replace...
