Can you split the airbox any chance? I.e. remove the top half of the airbox so you're just left with the lower half. Just opened up the parcel with my 848 airbox/throttle bodies in and can't seem to figure out how to take the arirbox apart, if at all.
If you can wait until tomorrow I have a comlete air box in the garage and I can look. Just got back from Silverstone and I'm bolloxed so forgive me for not wanting to do it now. Andy
That's cool. If i've not cut it up by then The more i'm thinking about how it works, the more i'm thinking the two halves don't come apart
There's 6 screws holding the throttle bodies to the base of the Airbox, once out the bodies & intakes will come off the box but the box isn't designed to be split in 2
I might need that spare box as i'd need to cut this one up anyway because it's for a 1098/999 engine swap. Thanks for that T! Was thinking it wouldn't come apart as everything is accessed from the outside of the airbox.
Aha another mongrel eh, Bursi do a "bottom half" that'll mate with the top of a 999 box although I believe it's mucho dinares and not 100% successful , @Air Duck would be the resident expert on this variety, if you've got some time to kill check out his thread on MS 1198 into 999 Reducks: FRANKEN9 !!! - Ducati.ms - The Ultimate Ducati Forum
Jigsaw did the job! Now i've got the "lower" half of the airbox i front of me i'm wondering if I need and airbox at all, or if I can just fit the throttle bodies and figure out some kind of filter? Kinda like the open airboxes on the Aprilia RSV's.
I was looking into the Bursi boxes before Mr T, but cost and the fact i've not heard of anyone not having to mod it for it to fit put me off.
