So I am removing my airbox for the 2nd time now,in order to replace it,because the threads on it are chewed up and spinning in place. This is only my 2nd time removing it,but i am still flabbergasted as to how it should be removed without any damage?? I disconnected all the electronics, unclipped the breather hose, moved the radiator forward and removed the wiring on top of the airbox from its holders(the clip in plastic which slides onto a screw on the frame). Every time this APS sensor catches on the oil blow-by tank and it scratches it like crazy,or the sensor housing gets dinged up(a small piece of plastic broke off already). It is the black part above the connector "B" which stays on the throttle body on this photo. Mind you when pulling the airbox out,i am pushing the blow by tank as much as i can to the bottom with one hand, but there is just not enough clearance. Now my question is,i see 2 special torx screws with a dot in the middle holding this sensor to the throttle body. Can this be removed for purpose of removing the airbox or it is not recommended?
I'm in the process of trying to remove the airbox for the first time. Ive encountered the same issue, i cannot move the oil tank enough to allow the APS connector past. Did you manage to do yours in the end?
Yes,basically a lot fiddling. Pushed the cables which are attached the frame as much as possible up in the air so they dont drag on the airbox, then pulled it up and back, being careful not to damage the sensors. Back side of airbox should be coming out first
It will come out but it is a pig. I read about someone saying they had cracked part of the APS connector. Mine was cracked too, but I don't think I did it and I've had the bike from new.
