Airfilters? BMC v K&N. What say you?

  1. I'm currently running Quat-D's with FatDucs and the DP air filter. Bloody brilliant but just thinking out aloud, I suspect there's a free-er flowing air filter out there that would, and let's face it the DP kit is brand label marketing, outperform the DP.Suggestions/opinions?Our operators are standing by to take your call....

  3. Well I have QDs with the BMC filter and Fatducs....excellent.

    Better than the DP filter? Couldn't say. K&N? Had them in the past and again, good kit.

    Either or really, but if you find it runs really well with the DP, why bother? The improvement will be marginal...

  4. I have the QD's and the fatducs - I've gone with K&N simply to let the engine breathe more easily - as has been said I'm sure the difference is pretty small

  5. Yeah a mate used them on a trip to Central Australia on a run in 1979 on a CB500 and after 500 miles we looked in the air box ..... Nothing, sucked right through.
    Still ran like an effing charm!

  8. It's quite likely that the DP air filter is made by one of the big manufacturers such as K&n or BMC anyway I would think? I presume the DP air filter is the same item as supplied with the full Termi exhaust systems?

    ....looks very similar to K&N type filters, can't remember now (haven't looked at mine since install)...it is an oiled element type filter?

  9. That's pretty much what the BMC filter looks like... In which case, I wouldn't both changing from the DP to either BMC or K&N...they are practically all the same.

  10. Don't have the full Termis but did opt for the DP AF upon delivery-however I did note though BMC make super hi-flow (Race, whatever that means) filters, thus my query. Just pondering.

  13. I imagine that 'Race' filters' will sacrifice some 'filtration' ability for more/faster airflow? I've just been pulling my hair out (what's left of it lol), I was posting in a discussion on the merits of various air filter types somewhere not so long back but buggered if I can find the discussion now! :mad:
