Akrapovic 1299 - Y Piece Question

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by V2FAN, Aug 6, 2023.

  1. Morning folks,

I have done bags of research in my attempts to source a set of slip-ons for my 1299.

I have now sourced a set with removable baffles but I need the correct Y piece. Does anyone have a link to what the correct one looks like or a part number please? I think it's Ducati part no 96411981, but need to make sure.

The Y piece currently fitted is from a 959 which I assumed was the same piece for the 1299?? Be useful to understand if it is.

For those that have done the swap, would you recommend changing the air filter or is the stock one fine? I have been looking at the Sprint Air filter should I need to change.

I have the Upmap but will be looking to get a Dyno tune rather than a generic map (unless anyone advises otherwise).

Big thanks to all those that have posted on this subject. I’ve had to join the dots in some cases and thankfully that prevented me from buying the wrong cans.

    thanks all

  2. Sorry, it’s different to mine. I went to an 899/1199 slip on…

  6. I think you’re correct in saying that the Y piece is the same on 959 and 1299 , they both fit the adjoining pipe with a wrap around clamp.
My 899 Y piece is the same as an 1199, the flange has 3 bolt’s through it that holds everything together , you can clearly see my 3 bolt flange here, ;)

  7. Hi Mate,

The akra adapters for the 1299 and 959 are different as shown in pic 6 here:
    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20436321...q0QE23qToi&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

    Screenshot_20230806_234454_eBay.jpg

The ones with the welded plate on the left fit the 959/v2, and the ones on the right fit the 1299.

The difference is because the y-pipes on the bikes are different:

Left one is from a 959 and right one from the 1299.
    Hope it helps!

  8. That was really useful seeing the visual differences - Thanks mate

  9. No worries.

Just checked the price from ducati for the part number you mentioned: 96411981a
    HOW MUCH?!?!?!!! £500ish?!?! Damn!

It'd be cheaper to get the pipe from the 959 @ £290ish and do away with the 1299 exhaust valve:

Even better, find a used version of the above, come up now and again on ebay, sometimes as part of the whole exhaust.

  10. Bloody expensive exercise. I phoned Ducati today - £539ish quid. I am hoping to offset some of the cost with the 959 Y pipe as they are no longer available. I don't think they were ever sold individually either. Think I need to become a gigolo to fund this.

  12. Expensive bit of kit for what they are. Find it and look after it lol.

  13. Hi V2FAN
If your still after the 1299 Akro slip on Y pipe then open the link in Sonics message

I remember seeing this advert and the seller stated that he had both 959 & 1299 Y pipes and would supply which ever one the winning bidder wanted. Just messaged him via Ebay and he still has the 1299 Y pipe and it's for sale...
    Cheers

  14. Hi Mac,
I messaged the seller a week or so ago and he wanted/expected £500 for the part. I have since purchased the part (New) from a German supplier for c£400. The other option was to get a non-Ducati fabricated part for £200. I really appreciate the prompt and thank you.

  15. No worries mate, glad to hear your sorted.
