Akrapovic Exhaust Y Pipe Identification Help

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by RoyBatty666, Sep 6, 2024.

  1. So I thought I had it down did loads of reading on here. But no fail!

Got a fab deal on 500 mile genuinely minty as new like akrapovic slip-ons from 959 in original box, up map key, receipt showing up map reloaded off bike, lovely seller.

And at same time had source on rare 1299 Y pipe.

But maybe not. Blooming thing will not fit what ever you do, whatever order you fit bits or ways loose etc.

Aligns with 8-10mm gap to square face meeting, force it and mount arms on slip-ons touch the sump.and it can't move anymore, it's rotating anyway pushing it so mating face tighten one side and opens the other

The 959 one is totally wrong of course and even has reversed male female sealing lip.

So what is the other one I have, a V2?

Any thoughts as but stuffed and lots of bucks in to this cheap exhaust upgrade  next step ill just buy the full collector and accept a divorce
    ;)

    Thanks for any help

  3. Not one for termi slip ons is it?
Think conquest racing still sell them last time I checked.

  4. Hi, did you manage to resolve the issue?

  5. im guessing there could be 3 versions, 959, 1299, Panigale R which all use the same exhaust clamp rather than the 3x m8 bolts from the 899/1199 range..
I would contact Phil Smith (SPF) as im sure he can make/modify one of your adaptors to fit.

  6. Thanks for the reply

I spoke with the seller and he confirmed came off a 1299 and he was clearly an experienced biker DIY guy so n reason not to believe him , so having another go and undoing everything and trying different order of operation.

I have a local exhaust/welding specialist than chop out the redundant valve section and put a straight pipe in with another 10mm as an option 2.

Getting to be a pro at taking this bike apart and every failed attempt at something is a learning experience or so I tell myself

  7. Try fitting the adapter first and then the cans

  8. Well where I was going wrong was I hadn't made a blood sacrifice to the mechanic God's :joy: once I did that it was easy

In all seriousness I had to loosen everything remove front hanger and try various permutations. In the end left can on with y pipe out on clamp and then put right on on give it all a shove and get the exhaust back hanger bolts in then the front then tighten all the other bits.

Oh and getting some my long Allen bits for a 1/4 drive gave more room as it's was so tight on chain side the 1/2 one I had had too thick a shaft (oo er)

Ride later as fee more bits to do, excited

    Thanks all

  10. Check to make sure the left hand silencer bracket is not in contact with the sump… if it is then you will have to file out a clearance radius with a half round file. These do not fit properly on some bikes and the new v2 versions have half moon cut outs in this area.

  11. I have to take the fairing off again anyway to do some other bits so will have a look. Cheers

  12. Haha damn you I had to go to the garage and check :p

All good not touching, not great clearance but enough.:upyeah:
