Hi all, I have had an akrapovic full system installed by the dealer at cost, I have been informed that the bike now has the upmap to run correctly. I currently have a standard filter in the bike and from what I read aftermarket filters provide very little benefit for road use, If I am wrong please feel free to correct me as I am new to these bikes. Would I be right in thinking a ECU Flash or Remap will be far better than the dealers upmap? What sort of gains should I expect over the standard system? any dyno charts or places you recommend would be much appreciated. Anything I should be aware of / risks of damage to ECU / Engine? / Should I have anything extra mapped in or out ? Another thing I need informing about is the differences between say - Rexxer / Woolich. I am based in Essex and I am happy to travel for the right expertise, Look forward to the replies, Thanks all, Jay.
I have a 1299s with full akra. Twas on bike already. All i did was fit throttle mod and a rapid bike pro module. Runs sweet as.
Could you please elaborate on the rapid bike module? is it plug and play, what are the costs for one of those? better than ECU flash / remap? thanks, Jay.
I had my Akrapovic slip ons fitted but MotoRapido and they used mapping direct from Ducati (as far as I am aware). They told me that if you get a bike mapped by a third party, all they do is the mapping etc for the performance of the engine , however, when using the Ducati mapping, all the other parameters are adjusted to suit the mapping. DTC, DWC etc. etc.
Thanks for the reply , so you are running the dealer supplied upmap? I didn't even consider the fact I could bugger up the DTC & DWC etc with custom map.
Yes I am. Very very happy with the way the bike runs and performs. To be fair, I didn’t think about the compatibility issues that may come from an independent tuner’s mapping but it kind of makes sense. I have left my bike in Sport mode, as I seem to find that the best all round for me. I have played around with Race A and Race B but for some reason I seem to always revert back to the sport mode.
yes, the rapidbike Pro module is plug and play. It 'learns' and adjusts the fuelling. https://www.dimsport.it/en/rapid-bike/rapid-bike-evo/ Sorry not 'pro' but 'evo'. I got my 3 letter things mixed. My 1299s already had the ecu that came as part of the installed system, inc filter. I know this as I also have the oem ones. The throttle mod is a small red triangular thing that fits over the throttle stop to remove 'play'. If this isnt annoying you, it soon will. Its cheap. https://ducatispacers.com/ These guys also do heat protection, which once summer arrives you'll understand. The RP Evo's cable can be a nuisance to fit between the two cylinders. I used a small broom handle. People whove done this will know. Check the details about the modes. I ran around in sport mode for the 1st week or so unimpressed before I checked the settings and the sport mode had the lower engine power on it. I put it into full power and was suitabley impressed thereafter. Still not as much torque as I'd liked, but it revs like a good un. I was used to an 1198. Boy I miss that torque. Mine is permanently in race mode, with as much dialled down as poss. The rear is stiffened as it used to squat. I have EBC on the dongle, so I can add or remove as I please.
Thanks for the reply, I will see how I feel with the bike before I start tinkering. Don't want to cause myself unwanted problems.
Thanks for the Info bootsam, really unsure what to do at the moment will give it a ride and get a feel for the bike first. First mod I will be doing is the 1198s wheel swap but I want to get a few miles under my belt with the standard cast wheels first to see if I notice a difference. 2.5kg drop in unsprung weight from what I read over the two wheels.
You will notice light wheels immediately. Best mod you can make to any bike, unless theyre already uber light. The stock 1299S forged are incredibly light.
