I have a 1200 S touring on a 13 plate. I'm toying with the idea of buying an Akropovic end can for it. If I do get one, can I just fit it myself or do I need to the bike remapped or whatever? Steve D
Ello If you are just changing the end can then no need for remap as the catalytic converter etc are still in place. If you replaced all of the exhaust parts then it would be a different story. I had toyed with the idea of changing the end can also but to be honest I think it is a lot of money just for a bit of cosmetic change, I'm led to believe that it will not improve the performance of the bike and may only make a slight noise difference. There are others of course, who may know different.
Steve, the Akrapovic end can for the Multistrada is a cosmetic change which to be fair I have not seen many of. It is an easy home fit if you can use basic hand tools. One word of caution, the Akrapovic end can will be a lot closer to the rear tyre than the stock. If you fit a 190/50 rear tyre, it rubs. Andy
Interesting to know Andy. Been thinking about keeping multi and paying the pcp off now I've extended the warranty, and if I do it will need a can change. Quite like look of this actually http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=231475183457 Carbon cap version. Already have a decat pipe sat in garage
Thanks everyone, the Akropovic was cheaper than the Termignoni endcan by a decent margin. The arrow is even cheaper! Lots to think about, thanks again everyone!
Looks really nice but a word of caution, the Arrow can only works with the Arrow decat. Unlike the OE and Akrapovic end cans which use a rotational fitting over a pin, the Arrow uses a spring to hold the end can too pipe. I'm at Cartagena next week but after I'm back, I'm happy to bring over an Akrapovic end can to illustrate the issue. Andy
