Almeria 13th - 16th Nov

  1. Been busy as hell at work and figured I need a little bike time so booked a couple of nights ago! Anyone on here going? Know a few were looking at it.

  2. Off topic slightly but what kind of cost do these outings cost roughly?

  3. This is my first one, but from chatting to others and toting stuff up I think I'm looking at about £1k + a set of tyres possibly/probably.

  4. Quite a bit of wonga then. Its something id like to do when funds /time allow. But i doubt i could get 1k approved instead of spending it on a "proper holiday"

  5. That's part of the prob.
These trips usually have to involve some 'compensatory' deal...:Muted:

  6. Yeah, event itself was £469....but then there is an extra night at the hotel unless you want to dive off halfway through the last day, then flights, fuel, food, insurance etc. Soon adds up!

  7. Cost wise not cheap, track time £££, fuel, hire car, flights, tyres (I used 4 pair at Aragon/Almeria) 7 days on track, it all depends on how fast you wanna go and be safe doing it !!
I always go home the next day so I've hot a full last day, and instead of paying for xtra night I always try to have a night in Granada, Elche, Murcia or casteldefels depending where I fly from. U can always get a cheap room and take in some Spanish culture. Also if I can, I try to do 2 events at the same time over, chill for a few days inbetween.
With focused every 3rd event you get 10% discount and you're 7th is free, if you do 6 events within 2 years !!

  8. I'm also trying to get back over to this 13-16 nov there's a couple of guys I know going !-)

  9. What would 3 days at say Brands GP cost? And can you gurantee the weather? Thats the comparison IMO to make.

  10. Is that code for a cheap room and a Spanish fitty?

  11. We were looking at maybe joinging a UK outfit next yr to do some other tracks, but it costs us the additional to get our bikes to the UK and then back to IE. Prob 350 each ball park.

It all adds up, tires, flts, spending money...etc etc

  12. True, it aint cheap and it does add up. Next May I'll be doing 4 days at Almeria with Tracksense. All in its gonna cost 1k+. But if I booked 4 trackdays at Donington it would end up costing about the same, there would much more fucking about with packing and unpacking and there would almost certainly be rain along the way. I'd say for track time and value for money, the foreign packages nail it. I'm seriously thinking of doing foreign TD's only. Too many disapointing days with rain in the UK.

  13. Ireland/U.K. trackdays is a lottery really re: weather.
Hope to do a second one late summer next year, thats about as much as finances will stretch.
Cant put a price on guaranteed dry track time imo.
I reckon you get great bang for your buck on euro track days.

  14. Got very luck with UK TD's this year. Bit blowy at Pembrey early on then a wee shower during lunch at Silverstone later in the year....The rest were scorcheo! Obviously not always the way!
I would be flippin' bastard pissed off if I paid out for a TD and it rained! I usually watch the weather and gamble on a place, rather than book a place then gamble on the weather!

  15. Pissed down at Brands in April but we have a wet set up for both bikes and managed 5 sessions. Learnt a lot about the bike and using race wets and wouldn't be put off next time. Boots and gloves were fine and used my ancient golfing water proofs so was only mildly damp. Andy

  16. Yeah, I've done the last minute rain check thing before booking. You can generally work it at Cadwell but high profile venues like Donington you usually have to book up and take a gamble on the weather. I've booked loads of TD's and its pissed down. Like the last two Ducati TD's at Donington.... 175 notes and a tank of diesel for a bacon buttie. Bastard!

  17. Fair play. I don't do the wet. I'm dodgy enough when its dry. Obviously racer types need exposure to the wet but I've never raced.

  18. That makes at least two of us :). I was really taken by surprise how much I enjoyed riding in the wet. The other benefit was not many riders on the track. It is also fair to say my bike has nowhere near the power and torque your beast makes so no danger of spinning up or high siding. Andy

  19. Nope - don't do rain/wet riding...:Nailbiting:
