Just bought a new Alpinestars T-SPS textile jacket and was hoping/assuming it would zip to my old Alpinestars leather jeans but the feckin zips are different lengths. (old is 35", new is 29"). Instead of modifying anything I'm thinking of just getting one side of each zipper size sewn together as an adapter. Anyone done this? Can you buy such things? Pete
Alpinestars use KKK zips which are readily available in many drapers. I made just such an adaptor for another purpose I have also added half a zip to my Dianese trousers alongside the original Dianese one so I can use my Alpinestars jackets with them
Thanks, I've just ordered a zip, hopefully the correct size. I won't ask what the "other purpose" was but I went for YKK rather than KKK, as I don't want to be pulled by the coppers, and nor do my zips
Have some Dainese Goretex Textiles where the joining zipper made them too short, especially with the back protector fitted, opening a gap at the neck at the back and tight in the crotch. I'm fairly tall. Bought a matching zip off eBay and had a local seamstress make a really neat adapter with a bit of stretchy nylon material. Fit is now spot on. Suggest that you do similar but with a smaller piece of material. Important that zippers match. The make should be on the puller or the slider on the zips fitted to the jacket and jeans.
Looks like the zip I ordered is the wrong size. I ordered a 5mm instead of 8mm. I didn't spot the 8C code on the zip of my A.stars pants. Anyone know where I can get a 90cm black YKK 8C zip in the UK?? Can't find one anywhere in the Googles.
There is a chain of shops called "Boyes" in Hull and the west Riding that sell YKK zips its where I got mine from. Dont go as far as Leeds but they are in Doncaster Barnsley Sheffield Goole and Malton
Thanks, but unfortunately it's the coil style I need rather than the chunky 'Vislon' style. I don't think it would match.
