The above is compatible with my new textile jacket, the question is, if I buy the airbag, can I fit it to the jacket myself or does it need to be done by someone that knows how to fit an airbag into a jacket? I know about the 2 yearly service etc but can't find any detail on fitting into a jacket
I have the Tech-air 5 airbag jacket and have worn it on a few rides before the bike was stored for the winter. I bought the tech-air compatible Alpinestar leather jacket. It doesn't connect to the jacket, you just have to make sure there is enough space for it to expand when/if it deploys if the jacket you use is not Tech-air ready.
Ah, I thought it fitted into the jacket in some way. The jacket is compatible so do t need to worry about enough space. That helps cheers
Using tech air compatible jackets/leathers and the other tech air vests, velcro attachment points and zips are used.
You take the vest on, do the zip connect the magnets(flaps near the top) then take the jacket on..the Tech 5 doesn't require any connection to the jacket. You can even wear it on its own. Make sure you have 4cm all round. There is a formula on Alpinestars website. Measure your chest circumference A Measure the jacket width laid flat B (at the chest) B should be bigger or equal to 0.5xA +12 Example A=100 B=60 Example 0.5x100+12= 62 (as long as this number is higher or equal to size B you are good to go) All sizes are in cm.
