Anyone know who they are and how to contact them? The A* site wasn't much use. My 365 gloves fell apart and the shop is refusing to refund/replace as A* reckon Its because they show signs of a crash. Not happy as I have another pair with crappy stitching on the fingers that look like they'd go the same way and want to have a word.
I had a pair of GP Pro that fell apart in the palm. Got them from Riders (Bridgewater). Replaced them no problem. If the shop you got them from won't give you a contact # to complain, try ringing Riders for the UK distributor contact. Otherwise here's the Europe phone # +39 0423 5286 (it's Italy btw) GL
It was Riders Cardiff I got them from. Initially they said no problem with the refund, so I ordered some Five gloves from them. Went back a week later to collect said gloves and they were the wrong ones.... but was then told that in the interim A* had refused the refund and that Riders wouldn't honour it either despite having already given me my money back, which I then gave back to them for the Five gloves! So I have no gloves, not even the broken A*s and no £170 either, just my receipt.:rage:
Very odd. Riders didn't even see the ones I complained about. I kept them (and used them, as they suggested) while the replacement pair were on order. They sent the new pair and I returned the originals after receipt. What's the fault with yours btw? The palm shredded on the LH one of mine. They robbed you at £170 btw
Yes, they have haven't they. Gloves were split open on two fingers, after riding in the rain for some reason. The finger stitching is not really fit for purpose even when done well (which mine and others I've sampled were not). The stitching is exposed, which I assume makes them cheaper to make, and prone to wear rather than being sewn inside out with hidden seams (like my excellent BKS gloves). But they were warm at least.
I guess the most pragmatic way forward would be to retrieve the faulty gloves from Riders and get your local repair shop to re-stitch them ? As I understand it, the seams are on the outside so the inside is more comfy. Would make very little difference to manufacturing costs either way (bearing in mind where they're made ).
Tell them you want your gloves back for legal action or for trading standards and see what happens. I would also deliver a formal letter of complaint at the same time and keep a copy for yourself. I think we need a section on legal advice on the forum?
Thanks for the advice. I was going to do a charge back on my card, but not sure I can? Will try contacting Oxford and sending them the pics of the gloves with shitty sewing on the fingers. Failing that I'll get heavy... already got a grievance with Riders as it is.
Yeah, sod being pragmatic (or rather a pushover). I don't buy the seams on the outside being for comfort though - it seems a stupid design safety wise: the thread is going to evaporate when it hits tarmac at speed and out will come your precious digits.
