Am starting to think about next year and an Alps trip Couple of years ago we stayed in the Weissespitze Sporthotel in Austria for a few days and found it to be a perfect central hub - from a recommendation on here and highly recommended by me now Want to visit a different area of the Alps - and do a similar thing staying somewhere similar as a central hub Any more decent recommendations that are as good?! Thanks
Glad to hear the Weissespitze Sporthotel is good - it's on my list of possible stop offs as part of my WDW 2016 trip. They market themselves along with a number of other Austrian and northern Italian hotels under the "Let's Bike Together" branding (9 ausgezeichnete Motorrad-Hotels in den Alpen von Österreich und Italien: Tirol, Grossglockner, Dolomiten, Südtirol I keep picking up their leaflets and handy maps showing touring routes at the Birmingham bike show each year, and might end up using a few next summer.
It's a cracking place to stay, been several times and you can even hire BMW bikes from the hotel . All these are hire bikes, BMW motorrad update them every couple of months. Hired XR up the Stelvio Cracking views Great rooms Hope you enjoy it [emoji106]
Have no doubt you will like it at the Weissespitze There are a couple to the East from there am looking at - from the above website but wonder if anyone has stayed in them? Hotel Sonneg and the strangely named 'Grizzly Sport'
As you ride through the alpine districts of Austria, Italy and Switzerland in summer you cannot avoid passing many roadside hotels and guesthouses which hang out a "motorbikes welcome" display board. You will have dozens to choose from.
I know Pete but prefer to have something booked and stay there for a few days so can ditch all luggage and go do all the passes in the area
