As the mirrors on my 1098 are totally useless I'm looking to change them to something else. I tried to fit the extenders from Ducati but the screws wouldn't come out and the captive nuts broke free and the mirror is now effectively scrap, so now looking for nearside mirror if anyone has one. Looked at the ones on moto-science and there are two types I would be interested in, there is the gran tourismo ones and the ducati performance ones, has any one on here used either? I have done a search but looking for more information really, also if I were to order these from the states would I have to pay import duty? Thanks Paul
I have the DP performance mirrors like the ones on Moto Science but not bought from them The Upside Solid Mirror so you can actually see behind Downside The LED indicators are pretty poor in strong/normal light (the MS ones may have improved LEDs its worth inquiring) The mirrors are actually smaller than the OEM so "Chicken Dancing" still required May or may not affect the flash rate depending on what you have in the rear (I have Kellerman LEDs in the rear and the flash rate with ignition on, but engine not running is faster than normal probably bordering on illegal, BUT turn on the engine and the flash rate returns to normal.......................no idea why) I also had to swap connections as the early ones came cross wired but I'm sure that will be fixed. That all sounds pretty negative but I would never fit the OEM ones again, there may be a better solution but I am very pleased with DP performance mirrors Personally though if going the Moto Science route I'd go for the Gran Turismo. As for duty well why don't you email him about helping you out, he's a good guy. John
Hi John, Thanks for the response, I have been having a good trawl on the net and found on a number of occasions people saying the LED's were too dim on the DP mirrors. I emailed ms and received a good response from Henri with regards to the duty and the mirror he considers to be the best, so looks like it's the gran tourismo, probably take around 7 days to get here. Exchange rate is good at the moment so coming in at around £166 all in, I think this is reasonable as Ducati wanted £130 for a standard mirror. There is a good comparison here for anyone considering changing their mirrors, helped me a lot 1098 Replacement Mirrors Comparo : Analysis ? - Page 2 - ducati.org forum | the home for ducati owners and enthusiasts Paul
