As a non track goer, (hopefully rectified later this year) and spirited road rider, I've been taking the last few weeks to settle into the 1199. (Not thrashing it, I've checked the other thread and I don't fall into that category.. As before with my 999 (had that 4 years) it's taken a bit of time before I've started trying to explore the limits of grip etc. What I'm finding with the new bike is that its more agile, much faster , but feels less stable at speed than the 999, especially on bumpier roads. Its always lifting the nose and the front end feels like its just skimming the ground sometimes. On a particular set of bumps it almost feels like the back squats, unloads, front dives then unloads..Like being on a pogo stick..FWIW front end feels great, no complaints with that in the corners. (I'm 100kg, so just grazing heavyweight division for extra info) So question is, do I need........ 1. A suspension set up? 2. To just calm my jets already? 3. A tinker with the settings on the back end? 4. To man the feck up, they're all like that? 5. Buy a pushbike? Any feedback welcome, even the abusive stuff.... Ta, G.
Funny enough, a visit to a suspension specialist to set up the bike for you is surprisingly cheap and would be my first port of call
Get the specialist to give you two sets of settings - one for fast track and one for fast (bumpy) road.
Slap me backside and ride the ripples, wafer-boy. None of which is on-topic, of course. Signing out of thread now!
