It seems I'm spending a lot of time learning lessons from tackling 'little' jobs this week. I treated myself to a gear change and brake lever set from Spider. I have Spider kit on my V4 and I have been very impressed with it. Their Multistrada lever set has a length adjustable toe piece which is also a fair bit longer which is ideal for me with my big feet. The lesson today, have you noticed your rear brake lever getting sloppy ? Thinking back, my answer is, well yes, I have. Discovered why today. The post that supports the return spring and the actuator rod and the eye piece on the end of the actuator rod are both oval instead of round and have between 1mm and 2mm of play in the joint. This translates into about 10mm to 15mm of travel at the end of the lever before anything happens. The lesson learned, ? Don't go 8 years and nearly 40,000 miles before you check it. Andy
There's your mistake! According to the rules of Ducati ownership, you're not supposed to ride them. Just look at them and give 'em a polish periodically. Oh and complain that the bolts go furry.
Pads are not an issue, they get checked and replaced fairly regularly as does the rear disc. Just never thought to be aware of the very exposed brake lever/master cylinder mechanism. Andy
