Sure this has been asked before, but be gentle please... I've only covered 700 miles in the last 10 months and last year the bike has had its oil service and Desmo. Don't want to pay the annual service costs and it needs for nothing, so just altered the date in the main menu, pushing it back 6 months. My question is, will that little 'fiddle' stop the annual service indicator flashing up? I know oil and Desmo are mileage based and they're a good while off.
Recommend keeping the bike inside its warranty criteria for the ducati network, but its your motorcycle.
It's out of warranty, covered by a recovery service and don't find the network very good, so that's not happening.
It’s probably been designed that way, I’d see no reason why any manufacturer wouldn’t see that work around and build in a way not to permanently alter such critical’ information.
I'll leave it and see what pops up in April then. Oil and Desmo are the important ones for me. Checking my tyre pressures for hundreds of pounds when it has been iunder a cover in a heated garage for most of the time, I'm just not giving in. Insulation tape to cover the light is another option. I carry that for the low fuel warning when the sender fails.
So I buckled and bottled it and called the dealer to book in. MOT due end of April and annual service same time. Dealer: "I've booked you in next week" Me: "It's not due until the end of April" Dealer: "I'll call you back" Dealer: "I've booked you in March" Me: "It's not due until end of April" Dealer: "We can do the MOT a month in advance" Me: "So does that mean you can programme the bike for a 13 month annual check for next year?" Dealer: "Ah. I'll ring you back" Dealer: "It's booked for the MOT due day" FFS, was it that hard?!
Odd that they didn't know that. Bit of a stumbling block with the fact that the service light only comes on, and can be reset, once the required mileage or time has elapsed. Not much of a problem if you have a good relationship with a dealer around the corner as popping in and getting the workshop to reset it for you should be FoC, you already having paid for the service. However, if you're some distance from a dealer it's not exactly ideal... My Desmo light came on in the South of France last year, even though I'd had the check done prior to departure. Had to ignore it and reset once home. Have a diagnostic tablet that lets me do that but didn't want to lug that to Corsica and back.
Exactly that happened last year and it's an 80 mile round trip, so not close, but the lights are a poain in that they can't be reset until they come on.
