Another dumb brake question, but...

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Ian, Jun 13, 2013.

  1. Is it possible to get a front brake master cylinder service kit? I'm getting no resistance at all at the lever, despite a massive session bleeding fresh fluid through. Also would anyone suggest a make of brake hose please? Nothing too flash, a simple replacement is all I'm after. (It's for a Monster 900 by the way.)
    Thanks again!

    Ian.

  2. Hi. Yes, you can get master cylinder repair kits, and replacement brake lines, both fairly cheap from ebay. Earls, Hell and Goodridge are the most common reliable makes of brake lines. Maybe £20 per line.
Myself and others could talk all day about brake bleeding techniques but it's been gone through so many times you can have a read of other posts in the technical help section if your suck. Might be well worth it before you start spending too.

  3. not if it's Brembo though.

  4. Give Jim Aim Motorcycles a call...................They are a KTM dealer and hold a lot of service kits for Brembo calipers etc....

  5. Thanks folks!

  6. Couldn't help notice this... A mate had the same problem at a trackday went through a bottle before we bled the valve near the lever (the bike runs an aftermarket Brembo master cylinder) and solved the problem. If you have one up near the lever my bet is that is your problem...

  7. Or have you given the pistons a good clean?similar symptoms if they are sticking badly, and a very easy fix too.
