999 Another Exhaust Question

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by manx999, Nov 15, 2015.

  1. Will be looking to fit a different silencer to deep sump 2005 999 Bip
I have a Ducati stamped can with race use only also stamped on it,exactly the same as stock can but a lot lighter and looks to be almost straight through
Question is do I really need to change front pipe too,MIVV dont do a decat one for the later models,my local friendly Ducati dealer reckons just fit it and dont bother with the front pipe and let the sensors/ecu etc make any adjustments needed. They are quite happy to check the exhaust gasses for me
Not looking to set the world alight performance wise,to be honest it would be fitted just to see what the noise would be like but dont want to make the thing a pain to ride
    Any thoughts chaps

  2. Front pipe needs changing to remove the front Cat. The rear Cat lives in the stock exhaust.

  3. Wow that was quick thanks
Where abouts exactly are the Lamber sensors then

  4. The 999 doesn't have any :upyeah:

  5. They appear to not know what they are talking about. You really need the DP ECU, the front decat pipe and the CO fettling. The 999 does not have lambdas.

  6. I've fitted a slip on termi seliencer straight onto the standard pipes without any problems. Funny enough I was told the exact same thing about the sensors and ecu sorting things out. I was very reluctant to do this so after searching for a de-cat pipe it turns out they are rocking horse sh!t. My inner self said don't fit it without one but curiosity simply got the better of me and on it went. No problems so far and if I'm honest the bike seems to idle better and is slightly more responsive low down. As has already been explained the link pipe will remove one of the two cats as the other one is inside the standard muffler and no doubt this is the correct thing to do. Why not slip it on and try it out. It's not a lot of work to remove if the bike doesn't seem right. Might be worth while getting some 'O' ring exhaust gaskets first as mine crumbled when removing the standard muffler and nobody likes a blowing exhaust now do we !

  7. Hey mongoose, so did you end up keeping the stock pipe or getting a decatted one? Did you do any tuning or is it stock? I'm looking to do the same exact thing and nobody gives a straightforward answer! I would really love to hear what you have to say!
