So short story. All about 5 months ago my girlfriends iPhone got stolen. Since then she got a new one. However I picked up her old iPhone from local police station today, it was recovered about 3 months ago and it took them this long to find the owner. Ok seems they do something.... just slow. Now she forgot the password but phone was not reset yet as even old background is on. Is there a way to recover old password? She was not registered with find my iPhone so not via there. Any suggestions?
If you restore you WILL loose everything on the phone....unless you have a backup in iTunes or iCloud. I'm guessing the whole idea is to recover the data......as there's not much point in restoring the phone without the data as it will be blacklisted from the networks now.
The iPhone 5 is so advanced it can already receive texts from the iPhone 6, telling it how old and crap it is.
Easy to unblock. Just phone your operator as ask them too. Had to do it a few times when I've lost my phone pissed, then found it a few days later in a random place. While your there get them to unlock it for all networks then flog it.
Even when your iPhone is locked up, you can still sync it with your computer. Do that first so all your data is backed up in iTunes. If you're using iCloud, you might want to switch it over to your computer for now just to be sure your information is safe. Put your iPhone into DFU mode. To do this, reboot your iPhone by holding down the power and home buttons simultaneously for about 10 seconds. When you see the Apple logo, let go of the power button but continue holding down the home button. Soon you will see an image displaying a USB cable, the iTunes icon, and a message that says "Connect to iTunes." Assuming you still have your iPhone connected to your computer with iTunes open, you'll also see a message telling you iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode and needs to restore. Now you can click the Restore button in iTunes and then wait for iOS to download and install on your iPhone. Sync your iPhone with iTunes to restore all your data and you'll have it back to normal with no password. Hopefully this should work for you.
Sev when we plug her old iPhone in it says locked iPhone detected please put unlock code first or contact help. Help says to wipe and restore. It might be because her new iPhone is also synced on same iTunes pc. Go figure would be no issue if she backed up or had android.
No it is not Imei number lock will prevent it from being used as phone via sim but it will still work as heavy iPod. It is a iPhone lock only. Besides we already put new discard in and it has full bars and hsdpa so it is not blocked. Network operator did not even bother.
It's the lock screen pin code he can't get past.....to even find out its barred from the network. Anyway You can only restore in DFU mode, as explained above and unless there is a backup on your computer or on the cloud you won't get the data back. But then at least you can try to get the network to un bar it......good luck with that one.
If your just using it as another phone, use Sev's method above to restore in DFU mode. There is a knack to getting it into DFU, but its easy after a few tries.
I want data back and I think I found a way .... I can see folder structure and file names but having issues with copying them off. I can open music for example but not copy it. Can see photo files but not open or copy. Will get there
All my data recovery software works on all storage devices just not in win8, have to boot up my trusty XP and it is proving difficult as to many changes to pc.
