  1. Hi,
Getting back to biking after a 5 year rest and divorce, my last bike was a nice black z1000, but want something that is fun and i can commute on that has a couple of big boxes on the back. My commute is about 20 miles each way 5 days a week, all year.

So i am looking to get a Multi strada 1000 or 650.... Depends.

My budget is £4k, so should be able to pick something up.

Are there any gotcha's i should be looking out for, I know the 1000 sounds like a bag of bolts running.

What are the service intervals like, I think there is a belt change at about 15k or every 2 years I think.

    Any advice would be great.

  2. Welcome to the forum. Can't help with ur questions as I'm too much of a loon to know anything about Multi's. Seems like one gets more attention here if you have a nude pic of your other half posted.

  3. Afternoon and welcome to the madhouse :)

  4. Welcome, if you're looking at Multi 1000 or 620's you won't go far wrong, 1000 has a dry clutch (thus the noise) 620 wet clutch but poorer components.

Service intervals are the same every 12 months/6000 miles belts every two years and being air-cooled it won't be stupidly expensive

  5. Take a look at Riders of Bridgwater. My recently traded ST4S complete with luggage, rack, Exhuast and many other spares is for sale there. I guarantee it is a minter and serviced up to the hilt. May be just what you are looking for.

    Welcome

  6. Welcome Simon , can't help re the Multi but as an ST3 owner I can recommend the ST series with regard to comfort and luggage capacity, and they're damn good fun too!

  7. Welcome to the forum buddy, no idea about multi's but plenty on here will be able to advise.

  8. Welcome. My second bike was a black 03 Z1000, i loved that bike. Ive got a black 1098s now, so keeping the colour thing going  Again, welcome to the group, I hope you find answers to your questions and all that jazz :upyeah:

  9. Hi, Guys and girls nice to meet such a friendly bunch, just need some multi owners to give me the sp on the 1000ds. Watching a couple of bikes on ebay at the mo and several on autotrader as well.

  11. For that sort of money I would be looking for a post 2005 model. (Some of the niggles of the earlier models sorted ie. comfier seat, longer side stand, taller screen etc.) If you can get one with hard panniers as these will cost you around £400-500 even second hand.

The S model comes with Ohlins suspension and carbon bits, but it's reported that the Showa shocks and forks on the non-S models are quality pieces of kit. (I have a non-S and have no complaints.)

As with all Ducs a recent 'belt service' is a bonus although if you're handy with the spanners it's a fairly simple thing to do yourself.

It's quite a tall bike so I'd advise a test ride if you're shorter of leg.

I've had air cooled Multi's for 6 years and have never been tempted by any other bike.
