  1. Anyone heard of this budget oil or know who the manufacturer is. The importer says its made in Germany and its on Fleabay at around £26.50 plus pp for full synthetic 10w/50.

  2. I got some Shell Advance Ultra 10/40 FS last week.
    2 x 4ltr for £50 delivered from ebay.
    1 x 4ltr was £28 .

  3. No details of make / brand etc .... So difficult to give feedback

  4. Why consider buying a budget oil (I can't see which it is) from Germany via ebay?

Surely 'budget' & 'ebay' rings alarm bells even before it has to come from Germany.

There's plenty of known brands in the UK that aren't budget stuff, and by the time you add p&p from Germany, the cost will be the same.

And you don't really need fully synthetic in an SS...........although I use Silkolene Super 4 which is sold as semi-synthetic, but the rep told me it was actually fully synthetic........I don't care as long as the stuff works.

  5. "There is hardly anything in the world that someone cannot make a little worse and sell a little cheaper, and the people who consider price alone are that person’s lawful prey. It’s unwise to pay too much, but it’s worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money — that is all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot — it can’t be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.”

  6. As a "Budget" oil, i would say that is VERY expensive and not worth even thinking about. Plenty of places in the UK to get Shell fully synth as cheap or even cheaper, as has been pointed out.

  7. A lot of dukes now recommended to use 15/50

  8. and poundland loyalty bonus cunstomer.

Does anything you buy from poundland ever work?? I once bought a pack of AA batteries for a digi camera..they lasted exactly 8 shots!

  11. Thanks for the replies, my specific enquiry was for a ester based 10w/50 which is my preferred oil for a large capacity twin cylinder. Of course just having `made in Germany` on the can doesn`t mean anything - it might be old stock WW2 tiger tank or East German imported ex Soviet oil for all I know . I just wondered if anyone had any info regarding the manufacturer ie Hein Gericke own brand/ `Motul`. I won`t put full synthetic in a 85bhp motor regardless unless its on a race track - gums up the mains. I`m more interested in something with a good ester base as in Motul or Putoline without the cost If possible (bearing in mind I change the oil and filter every 2 - 3k)!
    Thanks all.

  12. I buy Silkolene Pro 4 at approx £19 - £21 for four litres....from a local small bike shop.
