Thinking of a blingy gold chain for the old girl. Was looking at 520 ERV 3 120, but as I know bugger all if anybody is knowledgable in the chain department would like any recommendations John
Theyre 525's Jock. I'm fitting new at weekend along with new sprockets. 520 are lighter more for racing i think but someone will likely confirm this. DID 525 ZVM-X 98 Link, i bought this for my 1198
Well that's a bloody good start then!! Cheers Bootsam So any idea I seen this Ducati 1098 S 07-08 Chain DID ZVM-X Super Heavy Duty X-Ring Gold Parts at Wemoto - The UK's No.1 On-Line Motorcycle Parts Retailer & this so far Tsubaki Alpha 'X' Ring Drive Chain - 525 Pitch - FREE UK DELIVERY Any Clues What are you installing Bootsam out of curiosity? John
I'm fitting the above 525 ZVM chain, new front sprocket 15t and a standard alu rear, 39t i think (cant remember) along with a renthal sprocket holder. I decided to keep my sprocket ratios standard. I was tempted to go 14t on front like i have on my 916, but removing that damn exhaust valve settled my bike down at low speed. I think, though, the general consensus is to go up at the rear rather than down on the front. But i decided just to keep it standard. Both those you posted look okay Jock. Wemoto are pretty good. Very quick delivery.
Thanks Andy Yeah I'm going for the DID I have the tool to rivet them correctly. Chains are such a PIA, but still better than shafts, take it from one who knows John
Cheers Bootsam Good to know!! Ducati dealer is getting me the DID (at the same price) and he will cut it to 97 (I think) links, as I don't have a hard link cutter. Add in the soft link and it adds up to 98. Getting it on Tuesday looking forward to getting it on. John
Thought I'd post here before starting a new thread. I'm looking to change the chain and sprocket's on the 1098, and I'm considering the same as others 15T front and a 39T rear. I'm thinking DID 525 ZVMX-98 Gold Extreme chain, as for sprockets I'm looking at the 'Ognibene' front sprocket to quieten the drive noise down, as for the rear I'd like to fit a Talon or Renthal Hardened Aluminium rear. I'll have to see if I can get a retailer to put a package together for me although it seems the 'silent' front sprokets are only available from Bike Torque Racing. They actually do a package with both sprockets made by Ognibene but the rear is steel :-/ Not having changed the chain before I'm unsure as to what will or won't fit straight onto the stock rear carrier. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
I bought mine from Ducatimondo on E bay. SSS chain with JT sprockets and QR Carrier. £150+ postage arrived the next day
