Any Good? S W Motech Bags Connection Quick Lock Evo Tank Bag

  1. I think I'm going to need a tank bag on my Desmosedici as my rucksack alone won't be enough for my IOM trip.

Can anyone share their experience of this system, or recommend another generic bag that will fit nicely on a Ducati sportsbike?

  2. I'm starting to feel like a Kriega rep

They do a "tank" to fit US style packs which come in different sizes. The reason I mention is the system is versatile and can be used on the back of front and their stuff is waterproof and good quality, but not cheap. Just a thought

Must say though that is also a good looking bag

  3. have you got the GP cans that exit the top Dave? If not, maybe soft panniers would be a better option. With that large tank and the height of a tank bag for anything more than fags and a phone, riding it may be a challenge esp on/off ferries etc

  4. Yep, I use the Evo and City bags on my Multi. Fantastic quality and very secure on the bike. One of SW's tailpacks might be better on a sportbike though.

  5. Y'know what - that is a thought. I have the GP07 where the single exhaust exits out the back of the tail unit. It has vents on the top to aid cooling but I wonder just how hot it gets and whether soft panniers may work. Good thought.

This plus a sheet of kevlar weave in between to protect tail-unit and bag.

Edit - not kevlar weave - rather that heat wrap material.

  7. Hmmmm - I'm really not so sure about covering the vents in the top of the tail unit. I'll make a point of checking how hot it all gets. I don't want to melt anything. Otherwise maybe panniers with straps may be better. Thinking about @bradders post, a tank bag really isn't a good idea though.

  8. I use them on the Mutleyi (MTS1200), got 3 different size bags.
Great, but you need to make sure it's firmly clicked down.
Get the locking pin for extra security / peace of mind.

  9. I have a set of soft panniers you can try if you like, just pop up and see me after we get back and give it a spin home. Worst case, if you have to take them off, you can sling them over your shoulder like an old gunslinger ;) lol

  10. @Dave just re read your post. You don't really cover the top as such and the panniers sit either side, you just have a couple of straps over the top.

  11. example (although too big)
